Christine has spent her whole
life making jewellery! Apprenticed after school, she opened a shop in
Stuttgart, Germany in 1972 and has made one-off art jewellery ever
since. After 10 years of exhibiting around the world, she and husband /
manager David settled on Waiheke and established The Artist Goldsmith.
18ct gold and carefully selected wonders of gem and pearl are her
inspiration with “Double Rings” her signature.
"Jewellery is an
expression of its wearer; each piece is an individual. My biggest joy is
matching my creativity to a personality, creating harmony and a lasting
memory. Choose from my creations or discuss a commission including stone
and metal from your jewellery box - you will enjoy a timeless companion
to wear and hand on. "
"Christine's masterful skills are a renewed source of wonder
and watching her demonstrate her techniques is a very inspiring
experience indeed."

Mary has returned to New
Zealand, her homeland, after 28 years in Sydney, Australia. She is well
acclaimed there, having exhibited regularly in Willoughby City and
Waverly Art Prizes, and the North Sydney Art Prize, where she won the
Drawing Category. Her work is held in collections in Australia, New
Zealand, England, Scotland and Hong Kong.
The vast geography of Banks
Peninsula combined with childhood memories of growing up in the South
Island has embedded in Mary a recurring fascination with water, movement
and form. Mary pursues her highly personal and intimate style through
rigorous studio investigations. She is challenged by the diversity of
found materials on Waiheke Island, included in her mixed media work.
Drawing and painting on site, finding fresh ‘framed’ intimate views
around each bend in the road, provides an important departure from
indoor studio work and has encouraged new development in her expression
of the landscape.
One of her great joys on
returning to New Zealand has been to observe the movement of swimmers in
motion as they trace thin lines across the bay below her house on
Waiheke. She shares a quote from Hockney, ‘to look at the world in
motion you have to stand still’. The ocean is an endless source of
discovery for Mary and her inherent restlessness has meant that each of
her current works is part of a lifetime given to discovering the
mysteries of the natural world. Dreams are made in this place where
water meets rock.

"You will feel privileged to have been introduced inside Olivier's
dark shed filled by the warm smell of molten wax."

Olivier Duhamel is a
figurative sculptor specialising in nude female bronze figurines.
Classical and elegant in
style, his creations do not convey any particular message, do not
attempt any conceptual or symbolist exploration, nor do they search to
be innovative at all cost. Olivier Duhamel is rather simply trying to
capture the beauty and sensuality of his subject of study.
Like few other sculptors,
Olivier Duhamel casts his own bronzes in is home foundry. This allows
him to maintain full control over the entire creative process. He prides
himself on the quality of his craftsmanship.
Loyal to his inspiration to
the female nude, Olivier Duhamel also makes finely rendered pencil
drawings and offers body casting services. He accepts commissions for
portraits drawings and life castings.
A New Zealander since 1987
French born Olivier Duhamel lives and works on Waiheke Island. He warmly
welcomes visitors to his home studio and workshop.
His bronze works are sold in
galleries across New Zealand and Australia but also in France, Belgium
and China and can also be viewed on his richly illustrated web site on
www.bodyscape.net.nz
He is the author of "Bronze
Casting Manual" teaching
how to cast
bronze and a "Body
Casting Manual"
Olivier also teaches a 5 days
practical
Bronze casting workshop

American born and raised in Greece, Gabriella immigrated to New Zealand
in 1997 and built her large earth brick studio gallery. Educated at
leading institutions including, BFA Boston Museum School of Fine Arts
and Rhode Island School of Design, Gabriella has sold numerous paintings
internationally with many patrons requesting repeat commissions. Her
works also featured in NZ Favourite Artists book publication. She has
been named as participant in the MIRA INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS RESIDENCY in
Italy for 2011 and creates pieces for Manita Art Collector and Agent,
Greece.
"I use hand made oils on canvas, glass and timber, rendering layers
of rich coloured pigments. My paintings are evocative of the primal
forces of earth, sea and sky exploring the power of the feminine. My
studio practice comes from what Maori call ‘Kore’ - the unorganised
potential, the place of chaos and randomness. Moving my paintings around
the studio floor, combining, removing, layering, and searching for new
combinations giving me a starting point of ‘place’. The Oceans, the
Sacred Waters and the iconic Greek Amphora are the three central symbols
I call upon when I begin”
